Red Skull Cake

This is the cake I did for my son's birthday party.  He requested a red skull cake and he told me what the cake design should be.  So this was totally his idea that I executed.

Red skull was a toy that I bought as he said that it needs to be a real toy!  Plus the fact that I can't mold figures with such details. :)

Name, number and fire design were fondant colored yellow orange and dusted with red edible petal dust for the fire effect.

Cake was mocha cake with swiss meringue buttercream flavored in mocha also.

Batman Cake

A small round cake I did for my son's birthday.  I did this so that he has a cake on his exact birthday and have candles to blow off.

Cake was 6" round chocolate cake, frosted with vanilla buttercream and covered with yellow fondant. I printed the batman logo and traced it on fondant then cut it.  Letters and number cutouts was from the frosting sheet that you can buy from Wilton.

Small Bag Cake

Small bag cake that I did for a friend who celebrated her 30th birthday.  This was a very easy and quick cake, just used 1 8" round chocolate cake cut in half and had it stand on the side that I cut it. Very simple design also, covered with fondant and did the quilt design on both sides of the bag.  Then used an aluminum wire to hold up the fondant balls that I used as the handle. Then a small white ribbon rose to give a little accent in front.

Cake was chocolate cake with vanilla buttercream frosting.

Miami Heat Jersey Cake

This was the cake I did for my brother in law who came to visit us first week of June.  It was a lot of fun seeing him and his kids after more than 8 years of not seeing them.  I did the cake as he celebrated his birthday in June, an early celebration for us.

Obviously, he's a huge Miami Heat fan and am sure he's having a blast now that the Heat won the NBA championship this year. :)

Cake was chocolate cake with chocolate ganache filling and vanilla buttercream frosting decorated in fondant.

Baby Shower Cake

This was the baby shower cake I did for a coworker who's having a baby girl.  This is one of the three cakes I had to make in a week. Pretty hectic week but somehow I was able to pull everything off. :)

Cake was chocolate cake with chocolate ganache filling and vanilla buttercream frosting.  Covered in fondant and put on some white chocolate accents on the bottom tier.  Also tried the baby mold I purchased some time ago.  It was pretty cute and my coworkers were pretty amazed.  I had to make a mini bib to cover the baby's butt.  Don't know if it's okay to let it all hang out and bring it in the office.

Mom to be was happy and very appreciative since I was off the day of her shower and I did come by to  deliver the cake. :)

40th Birthday Cake and Cupcakes

Did these cake and cupcakes for a friend who celebrated his 40th birthday last May.  The wife asked if I can make cupcakes and if I had the spare time because around that time I had a lot going on. My sister and her family was coming over for a visit, it's been a long time since we've seen her family so we were very excited and was trying to prepare as much as we can.  Also, my brother in law had a birthday coming up so I have already planned on making him a birthday cake.  Then to top it of, my boss at work ask if I can make the baby shower cake for our team mate.

Well, anyways, obviously I had the time to make a simple cake for our friend and the cupcakes that his wife requested. Unfortunately, we were not able to attend the party since we went out of town the day before the party.

The cake was chocolate moist cake with chocolate ganache filling and vanilla buttercream frosting.  Simple design with stars and covered it and the letters/numbers and border with silver edible glitter.

Cupcakes are vanilla cupcakes with vanilla buttercream frosting topped with colorful fondant accents. I tried a new vanilla cake recipe and my son who did the taste test said it was pretty good. :)

All in all, though it was a hectic week, I had fun doing these cake and cupcakes.
